By: LJ Ober Hi creative friends, If you are an Independent Direct Sales contractor, your team leader has surely suggested that you give out samples to your potential customers. Simply because handing out a sample is the absolute perfect conversation starter, right?
This is how you will get buyers and or recruits. Plus you are getting your business name out there, not only to her but to whom ever she brags about getting the free sample. You could even pop her an extra one just in case. Who doesn’t like a freebie right? WOOHOO LOOKIE I GOT! Ask her to look any info over and if having a party is not for her then maybe she knows someone who is. It’s just friendly conversation and doesn’t need to go too deep unless she leads it there. f your company doesn’t offer sample items then give your recruiting brochures, catalog and business card with a pretty dollar store pencil and package it all up real pretty with a cute lil ribbon or bow so they feel like they are getting a treat! And speaking of a treat, why not add some candy in with the package. Have your samples or package in a cute little basket in your car, and hit up some drive thru’s for a coffee! Or stuff a few in your bag when shopping and hit up the cashier. HERE IS MY SAMPLE SPEECH, (plus throw her a compliment) . . . i.e “ooh your nails are pretty”)! “Hey do you like____ & _____, because I have ____amount of these to give out today, can I give you one? I myself have gotten my most recruits by simply asking them. Striking up a conversation and having something in my hand to give them. YES home parties are still a thing, and fun to boot. I myself still love being invited whether it be for jewelry, skin care, home decor or whatever I’m invited too. I simply like buying myself a gift from these parties, but the best part is getting together with ladies that I haven’t seen in awhile. Woman are busy these days but not to the point that they don’t have time to get together for a girls night out. It’s more like they absolutely need this kind of break from regular routine. A chance to put on a nicer pair of jeans & Micheal Kors boots and chat with the ladies, plus eat a piece of pie to boot. The take away is to get the samples out! Let people know that yes . . . Mary Kay and Pampered Chef or whoever you sell for is still a thing. AND GET THE PARTY STARTED! Actually here is a prediction that the very stores you shop in at your local mall will actually start to have a direct sales approach in the very near future! YES! I work in a popular intimates store at the mall that has the software set up and is already encouraging salespeople towards this mentality. Not that we we have samples to hand out but the push is there to chat up friends, family and acquaintances about our products and get them to our website to not only purchase but to also become a regular subscriber customer. Thats my spiel, from your direct sales leader to you. . . add your own creative flare to this project and . . .Get out those samples! ttyl. Likely Treasures

I run a small online shop on Etsy and I am looking to expand it to my own site as well as offline. I feel like this is my next step. I want to make small gifts that I can pass out to people as well as ship with orders to encourage people to buy more and share the items with friends. I wish I had done this sooner because I have read some amazing success stories based on simple samples and people coming back to spend, spend, spend!

Do you make or buy the kits ready made?

Hi I make the kits with the company’s current advertisement. I believe you can buy paste samples from the company and then add a popsicle stick to stir, a mini sample stencil and your business card etc. Get clear bags from the dollar store or candy making isle. Make it special to your own and be excited. People are open to receiving things like this. Try to get their email or cell number to follow up if possible. Thanks
